UNESCO Delegation to the 8th African Union Summit

The Director General of UNESCO, Mr. Koichiro Matsuura led a delegation of UNESCO staff to the 8th Summit of the African Union which was held in Addis Ababa from the 29th -30th of January 2007. The main theme of the summit was "Science and Technology and Scientific Research and Development"   

 

Members of the High-level delegation included the Assistant Director-General for Africa, the Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences, the Assistant Director-General for Social Sciences, the Director of the Regional Office for Science and Technology in Africa and the Director of the Regional Office for Education in Africa . 

During the meeting, the DG Mr. Matsuura highlighted some of the ways UNESCO is lending support to the implementation of the AU/NEPAD consolidated plan of Action for Science in Africa.
