Q: Who is eligible for ANSTI postgraduate fellowship?

A: Only staff members of ANSTI member institutions. Furthermore, applicants must hold a good bachelors degree (at least 2nd class upper division) and be not older than 36 years.


Q: Is it possible to get a scholarship for a first degree?

A: No. Scholarships (fellowships) are awarded only for postgraduate studies.


Q: Can I get a scholarship / fellowship to a country outside Africa?

A: No. The aim of ANSTI is to promote cooperation and networking between African universities. Therefore, the fellowships are tenable only in other ANSTI member institutions outside applicant's home country.


Q: Can I get a scholarship / fellowship to continue studies in my own university?

A: No. The aim of ANSTI is to promote cooperation and networking between African universities. Therefore, the fellowships are tenable only in other ANSTI member institutions outside applicant's home country.


Q: Does ANSTI offer any courses itself?

A: No. ANSTI is not a university or a school. ANSTI is cooperation body between sub-Saharan universities and other institutions of higher education in the fields of engineering and basic sciences. Therefore, ANSTI does not organize any courses itself.


Q: Who can become an ANSTI member?

A: ANSTI membership is open for the faculties of engineering or basic sciences of all sub-Saharan universities and other institutions of higher education. The membership is not open for individuals.


Q: Does ANSTI offer fellowship in Arts education or the humanities?

A: No. ANSTI offers fellowships only in Science and Technology/Engineering.


Q: Does ANSTI offer post-doctoral fellowship?

A: No


Q: Does ANSTI look for universities to host the visiting professor?

A: No


Q: What do I submit for application for staff exchange fellowship?

A: Letter of invitation from the host institution containing the details of what they will offer you (e.g. free accommodation or salary)


Q: What is a normal length of a staff exchange fellowship?

A: One semester is a quite normal lenght, but sometimes longer periods have been accepted if they are justified. We normally don't consider periods less than one month.


Q: Does ANSTI award conference grants?

A: Yes. In cases when the applicant is going to present a paper or has a role like chairing the meeting. The number of conference grants is very limited and very strong preference is given to conferences that are held Africa.


Q: Does ANSTI support women gender conferences

A: Yes we do.
